Delicious food and a friendly group for a skate on a sunny day… what could be more fun!

Jun will lead a short skate for beginners on a mostly flat terrain. This skate is intended to be a gentle introduction to beginner inline skaters who’d like to venture beyond skating in courts and rinks. We’ll start at JFK Park in Harvard Sq, Cambridge, and skate to Alive and Kicking Lobsters Shack for snacks/drinks. (Their lobster sandwiches are supposed to be quite good!)
Date: Sunday, July 13, 2014
Time: 10:30 AM
Location: We’ll meet at the fountains in JFK Park (corner of JFK Street and Memorial Drive. More details and map below.)
Distance: About 2 miles.
Prerequisite Skills: Participants should already be comfortable with basic striding, and stopping on a mild incline.
If driving, you can park on most streets since there are no resident-only parking restriction on Sundays. For example, try parking on Memorial Drive (just to the West of JFK park) or Mt. Auburn St, and walking/skating over to the park.
If taking the T, take the red line subway to Harvard Sq, then walk along JFK Street toward the river to get to JFK Park.
We’ll have music and freestyle slalom cones setup (and sometimes a ramp and grind rail) for anyone who’d like to come by to practice skating, learn new skills, and meet other skaters. Whether you’re a beginner just starting to skate, or a seasoned expert, everyone is encouraged to participate!
